About Yunus
Before founding BCOM Counselling in Bolton in 2007, he worked as a Mental Health Community Development Worker, which helped shape his community-focused perspective. Over 21 years in practice he has worked with clients from a wide range of backgrounds on issues such as marital difficulties, anger management and broader mental health concerns, and he has experience mediating between parents, offspring and extended family members.
His approach is eclectic and adaptable, guided by the belief that no single method fits every person. For Muslim clients he integrates fundamental Islamic values alongside established counselling techniques. His foundational orientation is Rogerian - emphasising unconditional positive regard, empathy and genuineness - and he is committed to tailoring methods to each person's needs. He was recognised with a National Mental Health Award in 2019, and continues to offer client-focused, culturally aware counselling informed by both training and lived practice.

Therapeutic Approaches for Online Care
Client-Centred Therapy focuses on creating a respectful, non-judgemental relationship where the client is supported to explore their feelings and find their own solutions; it is useful for relationship concerns, low self-esteem and navigating life changes. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps identify and shift unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns, offering practical strategies for managing anxiety, depression and stress. Trauma-Focused Therapy attends directly to the impacts of traumatic experiences, working at a pace set by the client to reduce distress and improve everyday functioning.Finding the right approach is part of the therapeutic process and Yunus works collaboratively with each person to identify which methods align with their needs, goals and preferences. He adapts his style over time so the work remains relevant and effective for the individual.
Online sessions are offered by video call, phone, live chat or text-based messaging, providing flexibility for people with busy schedules, caregiving responsibilities or those living at a distance. These options make it easier to maintain continuity of care and fit therapy into daily life while working with registered professionals and therapists who tailor their approach to each client.
